Our Strategy & Engagement team is currently looking for an Associate focusing on our domestic and global engagement. This is the team that leads all our exciting work with external stakeholders at national and international level. Our primary focus is to keep our finger on the pulse with regards to innovation developments and being proactive in seeking opportunities to learn about exciting new innovations and promote the unique role we play in the market.

What does this mean in practice? It means talking to people, experts, internal and external stakeholders, connecting the dots in our priorities, market developments, consumer benefit and competitiveness. It means thinking strategically about how we can maximise our impact on the market to support all those innovations that have a clear potential to bring benefits to consumers and firms. It means engaging with and managing all the key domestic stakeholders that can play a role in this.

This is an exciting time to join our expanding team, to work on a wide variety of topics and with a very diverse range of stakeholders. We act as the knowledge hub for all things Innovation related and play a key role in building the global reputation for the FCA as an innovation leader and champion. The team is also responsible for the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN), offering opportunities for interesting cross-pollination work.

For anyone thinking of joining, prior experience of one or more of the following is a plus:- Financial services sectors such as retail banking, payments or lending, general insurance, pensions, investments and wholesale markets.- FinTechs, RegTechs and the wider financial services industry, including trade bodies, government departments and regulators domestically and/or internationally.

What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?

The Strategy and Engagement team acts as the knowledge and coordination hub for the Innovation department when it comes to our external projection, driving the engagement with both domestic and international organisations. We scan the horizon for opportunities to engage with key stakeholders on a variety of topics, to gather intel and input into our thinking on how innovation impacts our industry. Our objective is to promote the work of our department and to influence the global and domestic debate.

The Associate role will be focused on:
- supporting our external domestic and global engagement with key stakeholders- identifying opportunities for further engagement and collaboration- drafting briefings for seniors- contributing to the smooth management and strengthening of our relationships with stakeholders- providing support in designing and implementing new engagement initiatives- engaging with colleagues internally to support a coordinated approach across Innovation

Which minimum, essential & desirable skills are required?

Minimum- Experience in stakeholder management: you will need to demonstrate experience in stakeholder management- Excellent written and oral communication skills: able to draft documents, including briefings, and deliver key messages about complex issues clearly.
