You will be the first point of contact to patient and users of the service and support clinicians in service delivery.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motived and experienced administrators with excellent administrative skills and knowledge i.e., good telephone manner, attention to detail, experience of EMIS, Data Inputting and Microsoft Office knowledge.

We currently have vacancies across East Lancashire including remote or onsite working at Burnley General Teaching Hospital, Brierfield Health Centre, Pendle Community Hospital, Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital and The Holden Centre, Barrowford. We have both full time and part time hours available. We work across 7 days and can be flexible in working days and working pattern available.

Full training for the role will be provided.

- Accurate record referrals, appointments/ contacts and patient information both manual and electronic in line with Data Quality protocol in a timely manner
- Maintain confidentiality of any information regarding patients.
- Be the first point of contact for the service taking calls from service users in a polite and effective manner.
- General clerical duties including scanning documents, photocopying, creating letters.
- Provide administrative support to managers and clinical staff within the team.

You will be a valued member of the team working alongside clinicians delivering patient related administrative support.

1. Ensure adherence to the Patient Administration Standard Operational Policy at all times.

2. Responsible for timely, accurate recording of referrals, appointments/contacts and patient information both manual and electronic in line with Data Quality protocol.

3. Responsible for processing referrals in accordance with clinical triage and KPI’s. Ensuring appointments are in line with the Therapies Access Policy, highlighting issues and taking corrective action where necessary.

4. Maintain the confidentiality of any information obtained regarding patients and be aware of the Data Protection Act, Caldicott and Freedom of Information policies.

5. Negotiate patient appointments, offering choice of dates/time whilst adhering to clinical requirements e.g. type of appointment, profession required.

7. Arrange transport and translation services where necessary.

8. Courteously and efficiently, receive all telephone enquiries from patients, carers, other professionals and external agencies in relation to appointments and general enquiries and in accordance with Trust Policy.

9. Provide general clerical duties including filing, scanning, photocopying.

10. Ordering and receipting goods.

11. Ensure patient case notes and appropriate electronic systems are maintained to a high standard ensuring information entered is in line with the Trust’s data quality standards.

12. Participate in the induction of new Patient Administrators, sharing knowledge and expertise of the administrative processes, functions and specific knowledge.

13. Prioritise and manage own workload each day to ensure the department runs efficiently and effectively.

14. Provide cover across the services when and where required.

15. Identify potential overseas visitors and patients liable to pay for treatment, at point of referral as per Trust’s Overseas Visitors policy.

16. Provide administrative support to clinicians with regards to patient related tasks.
