Battersea is seeking a forward thinking and experienced Head of Finance to join the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate at Battersea to lead, facilitate and inspire our talented and motivated finance department.

The Head of Finance will be responsible for leading a high performing finance and procurement team, ensuring Battersea’s financial management is fit for purpose and that we deliver an effective financial control environment to safeguard Battersea’s finances.

They will ensure that all necessary statutory financial responsibilities are met, leading on the production and external audit of the statutory accounts, ongoing VAT reporting and required submissions to the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC. In addition they will ensure that the charity has access to timely, accurate and meaningful financial information to enable Battersea to make decisions based on sound financial advice.

Through strong leadership and direction, the Head of Finance will ensure that the service provided to others across the Charity is customer focussed, including provision of timely and accurate financial reporting, and delivery of high quality training, support and advice to all key stakeholders.

As a senior leader they will be able to use their expertise and influence to drive organisational improvements and efficiencies, enabling the charity to deliver value for money through careful management and oversight of financial expenditure and income generating activities.

The postholder also plays a key role within our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) which seeks to help shape and embed Battersea's strategic direction and collectively shape our culture through role modelling our values.

During the Coronavirus restrictions, our animal-facing staff continued to work on site and our office based staff worked from home. We are currently operating a hybrid working model with our office-based staff splitting their time between site based and home working. We believe this will support office-based staff to maintain the benefits of home working, while allowing for collaboration and interaction with our animal-facing staff and maintaining a connection to our cause.
