- Job description- If you’re part of the Environment Agency (EA), you’re part of the solution. Working with us means protecting and improving the environment and tackling issues of national importance. We’re based across England, and our responsibilities span industry regulation, flood defences, land contamination, water quality, fisheries, and conservation.
The team- This is an exciting opportunity to work within a brand-new team of Permitting Officers for our evolving Flood Risk Activity permitting regime.

You will be based at one of our national offices with the option to work flexibly.
- Experience/skills required- Experience of environmental permitting is not essential. Most important are your key transferrable skills, relevant professional qualities and a genuine passion for protecting the environment.
Essential skills include the ability to:

- Make and justify informed, timely decisions based on analysis of complex technical data
- Coach and support others through technical challenges
- Effectively manage your own time and workload
- Successfully meet performance targets and deadlines
- Communicate effectively and build strong relationships with customers and partners

Desirable skills:

- An understanding of flood risk management data
