To achieve our ambitions, we're pioneering new technologies and building market leading Power to X (PtX) capabilities with green hydrogen and eFuels. Our new PtX function will develop and implement our global business strategy in this exciting and evolving market, providing additional routes to market, while assisting in wider industry decarbonisation efforts.

As Head of Commercial, you'll be joining us at the start of our journey and be responsible for building a commercial centre of excellence for our PtX endeavours. You will lead a team to develop effective partnering strategies, provide commercial direction to our developments and negotiate commercial agreements to secure our position as a key player in this emerging market. You'll also work closely with the policy, regulation and corporate finance teams across all our geographies to influence investable subsidy designs and subsequently secure and manage subsequent contracts.

**About the Role**

**Base Location**: Glasgow, Perth, Reading, Dublin or Belfast

You and your team will be responsible for:

- Developing the commercial framework for our participation in the PtX value chain, identifying business case dial changers, and providing strategic commercial direction to project teams.
- Developing overall partnering strategy for our PtX endeavours with a focus on capability building, value creation and risk mitigation.
- Owning the development of business cases for a portfolio of first of a kind projects and provide guidance to project team on commercial optimisation opportunities.
- Structuring and negotiating commercially sound contracts including MOUs, Cooperation Agreements and guiding SSER negotiations of JV Agreements.
- Preparing bid submissions to secure hydrogen revenue support via bilateral negotiations and ultimately competitive bids building on our track record of success in competitive auctions.
- Managing financial investment decision process ensuring timely investment commitments in complex interdependent value chains.

**What do I need?**

This role is central to our PtX strategy and we're looking for an expert to take the lead on all commercial matters, so you'll need to have experience in a complex commercial role. In particular, you'll have worked with senior stakeholders and have held accountability for managing and negotiating contracts in a similar market.

We'd also love you to have:

- The ability to create, manage, develop and inspire a high performing team to deliver innovative approaches and business opportunities.
- Comfort operating with a broad range of stakeholders and the ability to demonstrate persuasive influencing, negotiating and decision making. It's likely you'll have a qualification in a business or related field.
- Well-honed experience and knowledge of project business case development, project financing and project support schemes in particular the renewable contract for difference.
- Experience of providing the direction needed to ensure proposals are evidenced by strong commercial and economic analysis. Being able to manage the risk-reward balance to achieve commercially astute outcomes in a new market involving first of a kind developments.
