Head of Projects

As the Head of Projects for Dedicated Accounts, your primary responsibility will be to lead the pipeline and financial development of projects across a diverse portfolio of National and Regional FM customers.
You will be at the helm of driving project initiatives, ensuring alignment with organisational goals. Your reporting line includes Sector and Divisional Project Directors, Regional Directors, and FM Account Directors as needed. This dotted/dashed reporting structure ensures seamless communication and collaboration.
P&L responsibility will lie with you for the South Project team's portfolio. This entails managing costs, revenue, and margins effectively. You'll also oversee project costing on behalf of FM accounts, ensuring financial viability and optimal resource allocation.
The role focus extends to driving growth in Regional, Strategic, and National Projects Pipelines. This involves identifying opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and expanding our project footprint.
You'll maintain a dotted line management relationship with broader Projects support teams (including Project Coordination, CDM, Commercial, and Quality) as needed. Collaboration ensures seamless project execution. Directly managing the South England Project Managers, you'll empower them to deliver excellence.
Beyond Dedicated Accounts (DA), your role extends to supporting Strategic and Regional FM accounts. This includes engagement with Strategic Accounts, Communities, and CG&D business units. As a champion of Mitie Projects processes, you'll ensure adherence to best practices. This encompasses areas such as CDM, Quality, and commercial aspects. Continual improvement of project delivery within your team is a key focus.
You'll actively promote and drive Asite usage across all projects, whether at the regional or national level. Leveraging technology enhances efficiency and collaboration. Balancing workloads and resource allocation is crucial. You'll ensure equitable distribution of projects, optimising team productivity. Developing robust succession and resilience plans is essential. This ensures continuity and preparedness for any challenges. Your role is pivotal in shaping the success of our projects, and your strategic vision will drive positive outcomes.
Grasping the nuances of initiatives such as “Plan Zero,” “One Mitie,” and “Mitie First” will be paramount, they represent our commitment to sustainability, unity, and operational excellence. You will be their advocate, encouraging every team member to embrace these initiatives. wholeheartedly. Fostering a culture where positive change is celebrated will be your mission. Nurturing a high-quality supply chain of competent, financially secure Project Contractors will be your priority. Collaborating closely with the Project Director, Regional Director, Account Directors, and Mitie Procurement will ensure seamless operations. Beyond maintenance, you will seek opportunities for expansion. Elevating service delivery standards by enhancing our contractor network will be your strategic focus.
Facilitating the seamless adoption of our new Projects TOM within the region will be pivotal. Embracing change as an opportunity for growth will be your mantra. Guiding the team through this transition, emphasizing the benefits it brings to efficiency and effectiveness, will be your leadership hallmark.
Harmonious collaboration with other Heads of Projects, Project Directors, and project leaders will be essential. Developing and implementing streamlined Project processes, establishing a Centre of Excellence, will be your strategic imperative. Seeking out opportunities to enhance quality standards, ensure CDM compliance, and elevate FM KPIs and Net Promoter Scores will be your ongoing commitment. Attending all Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual FM contract meetings, providing comprehensive reporting on Projects, will ensure transparency and alignment.
Managing project finances, aligning billing with accurate forecasting, and ensuring weekly reporting through Project trackers will be your financial stewardship. Investing in the technical and professional development of the Project Management team and fostering a culture of continuous improvement will be your priority.
