Monitor the work of both contractors and Estates staff with regards to mechanical maintenance and installation works, to ensure that it is in line with Trust policies and legal guidance.
Ensure that work is carried out to the appropriate standard including: the correct materials and workmanship are used, that the work being carried out is of the highest quality, that it is value for money, and providing support, advice and guidance to colleagues where necessary.
**Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as ‘Priority’ and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification**
Actively supporting the Estates Mechanical team through monitoring of both contractors and Mechanical DEL (Directly Employed Labour) staff to ensure works are of a sufficiently high standard and is in line with Trust regulations and legal requirements.
Provide advice and guidance where necessary to assist the teams with key decision-making and project management.
Work with members of the Trust and key stakeholders to develop and maintain a positive reputation for efficiency and operational responsiveness.
Provide a strong contribution towards the leadership of the Directorate, supporting the Service Line Lead and participating in the on-call rota to ensure that all services are 24/7, patient focused, high in quality and effective, and optimising utilisation of human, financial and other resources.
Support the Service Line Lead in the implementation of the Estates strategy, ensuring coordinated and integrated solutions that are efficient, cost effective, and that future proofs the hospital.
Monitor all mechanical installations and work activities ensuring compliance.
Advise the Service Line Lead on all aspects of mechanical services maintenance, ensuring compliance, and that the service is safe and delivered within budget.
Oversee contractors and specialist services personnel working on the engineering services and infrastructure ensuring supervision, training, quality outputs and control.
Provide mechanical input into tender specifications where required and work with Procurement, obtaining quotes or tenders for mechanical engineering elements, ensuring that Trust Procurement rules and standing financial instructions are adhered to.
Be responsible for monitoring the maintenance and control of all mechanical engineering elements and assist with the provision of assurance on safe systems.
Support the Service Line Lead in the implementation and evaluation of short, medium, and long term plans for the replacement or upgrade of engineering plant, equipment, engineering systems and infrastructure based on risk assessment. This will include the agreement and delivery of backlog and specialist services maintenance programmes with minimum disruption to patient services.
Be familiar with all relevant MICAD drawings and written instructions to be able to check their accuracy and use these as a tool to inspect works as required.
Ensure there is sufficient maintenance of all mechanical records including as-fitted drawings, maintenance manuals, statistical returns, EFM information, performance reports, controlled documents, logbooks, updated policies and procedures through regular inspection and ongoing monitoring processes.
