**Residential Worker**

**Salary: £24,500 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) plus £50 per sleep-in allowance**

**Location: Barry, Vale of Glamorgan**

**Contract/Hours: Permanent Part-time - 32 hours per week working on a rota basis including weekends, evening, and sleep-ins.**

**About the service and role**

Ty Cody is a brand-new purpose built long-term solo placement, for one young person, who requires support with their physical disability. The service provides support to the young person up to the age of 18 years old.

Our model will provide an environment where they will receive positive experiences of reliable, consistent parenting through providing specific and structured care, with very clear consistent boundaries.

You'll be working within a supportive 2:1 ratio, with your Registered Manager, Team Leader, fellow Residential Workers and Support Workers there every step of the way to guide and assist you.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**
- Leading shifts and managing risks whilst maintaining high quality care that is safe, personalised and outcome focused for the young person in our care
- Completion of tasks set by the Team Leader within the service
- Supervising Residential Support Workers and coaching and mentoring them to aid their development.
- Supporting with taking part in fun activities, learn new skills and work towards independence
- Supporting with personal care, communication, administration of medication and clinical procedures

**Let's talk about you**
- A Level 3 Social Care Diploma or equivalent or working towards
- Experience in leading on shifts for team of support workers
- Experience in a residential short breaks or children's services
- Experience of working with young people with physical disabilities
- Understanding of GDPR, Safeguarding and relevant policies
- Being a driver is advantageous but not essential

As part of your induction, we are committed to providing you with comprehensive training to enable you to support the young people. The training includes safe administration of medication, Team Teach, Manual handling, first aid and safeguarding as well as further training and access to extensive e-learning modules.

We will support you in registering with Social Care Wales and completion of the All Wales Induction Framework, as well training with experienced members of the team, which includes a 2-week shadowing period.

Our goal is to equip you with the necessary tools to excel in your role and confidently carry out your responsibilities to provide the highest level of support to the young person you will be caring for.

As a non-profit organization, we are committed to the recent update from the Welsh Government in relation to **‘eliminating private profit from the care of children looked after**'.
- “80% of care homes in Wales are run by the private sector. _Our aim is to ensure that public money invested in the care of children looked after does not profit individuals or corporate entities, but is wholly spent on children's services to deliver better experiences and outcomes for children and young people, supporting service development and improvement and further professional development for staff.”_

By 2027, they aim to have the care of children who are looked after in Wales, to be provided by the public Sector and charitable or non-profile organisations.
