**Role**:Residential Support Worker

**Salary**:£23,100 per annum

**Location**:Barry, Vale of Glamorgan

**Contract/Hours**:Permanent, Part-Time - 30 hours per week

(Core day shift operational hours will be between Monday Friday 07:00 - 10:00, 14:00 - 22:00 and weekends 07:00 - 14:00)

**Please note this role requires a commitment to work 3 out of 4 weekends per month**

Our Vale of Glamorgan Short Breaks Project in Barry provides residential short breaks, community outreach services and Domiciliary Care for the most vulnerable disabled children and young people aged from 6 to 18 years in the Barry, Penarth and Sully. The service is centrally located with great public transport links all around, only a 5 minute walk from Cadoxton train station

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and self-motivated Residential Support Worker to join our committed, dedicated and supportive team These are excellent opportunities to support activities and sessions providing quality care for children in need across Barry, Penarth and Sully.

**How you'll help to create brighter futures**

We are now seeking a Residential Support Worker to help us maintain the high standards of care and personal development our young people have come to expect. You will achieve this by:

- Getting involved in lots of fun activities Undertaking sessional work with young people out in the community (leisure activities, park visits, rugby, shopping trips).
- Taking responsibility for the personal care and daily routines of the young people.
- Supporting young people to achieve positive outcomes.
- Being responsible for the safeguarding of young people.
- Supporting young people during overnight stays within the Vale while taking part in activities.
- Help coach young people to develop essential life skills such as cooking, cleaning and money matters.

**Let's talk about you**
- Experience of working with children or young people.
- Level 3 QCF in Social Care or happy to work toward this after your probation.
- Registration or willingness to register with Social Care Wales which we will support you with.
- Experience of clear, concise record keeping via IT systems
- Understanding of GDPR, Safeguarding and relevant policies

As part of your induction, we are committed to providing you with comprehensive training to enable you to support the young people. The training includes safe administration of medication, Team Teach, Manual handling, first aid and safeguarding as well as further training and access to extensive e-learning modules.

We will support you in registering with Social Care Wales and completion of the All Wales Induction Framework, as well supporting you to gain a Level 3 qualification with assigned hours off for study in our local college.

On top of this, you will train with experienced members of the team, which includes a 2-week shadowing period.

Our goal is to equip you with the necessary tools to excel in your role and confidently carry out your responsibilities to provide the highest level of support to the young person you will be caring for.
