Job overview

Main duties of the job
- Liaise with clinicians regarding appropriate scheduling of theatre patients such as case mix together with other key information to ensure the full utilisation of theatre lists.
- Add patients to a Waiting list, request pre-op assessments and book dates for surgery
- Proactively manage patients on the waiting list, ensuring appropriate actions/tests are completed in the correct timeframe
- Set up and maintain departmental spreadsheets
- Produce accurate theatre lists for scheduling meetings, attend said meetings, and undertake all required follow up actions
- Book HDU/EPOC beds as required following correct protocol
- Book Consultant clinic appointments, pre-op appointments and Duplex scans.
- List Interventional procedures via Careflow and create TCIs
- Booking patients in for Native and Transplant Biopsies via Careflow
- Work closely with the Access Nurse regarding Renal patients

In addition to the below summary you will need to familiarise yourself with the full job description and person specifications documents attached to this advert
- Responsible for ensuring patients are added/removed to the NUH waiting list and co-ordinating/booking admission to hospital
- Be responsible for management and accurate validation of consultant waiting lists in line with 18 week RTT targets, maintaining accurate records to ensure all admissions for elective procedures are outcome and completed on Medway PAS, in line with Trust Access Policy.
- Manage day to day duties for the waiting list team ensuring adequate cover for sickness, annual leave
- Booking Renal Vascular Access Consultant clinic appointments, pre-op assessments and Duplex scans using the hospital IT systems; Careflow and Bluespier.
- Liaising with the Access Nurse to list patients for Interventional procedures and booking their TCIs on Careflow
- Liaising with Nephrologists and Registrars to book patient's Native and Transplant biopsies onto Careflow.

Person specification

**Qualifications**:
Essential criteria
- GSCE Grade C (new grade 4) or equivalent including English and Maths
- NVQ Level 2/3 Business Administration

Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of working with hospital systems e.g. Careflow, NOTIS, Bluespier

Experience

Essential criteria
- Proven administration experience.
- Experience of working to deadlines
- Demonstrate knowledge of waiting list processes

Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of 18 week RTT policy and experience
- Recent or past NHS experience

Analytical and Judgement

Essential criteria
- Able to use judgement to make decisions in order to solve problems / enquiries
- Ability to prioritise workload and use own initiative
- Understanding of the data Protection Act 1998 and patient confidentiality

Communication

Essential criteria
- Able to communicate with a wide range of healthcare professionals at different levels of seniority
