Job Purpose / Overview
As a Senior Construction Delivery Manager, you will oversee a designated section of the HPC site construction, managing a team of Construction Delivery Managers. You will be responsible for day-to-day site supervision, ensuring the project is delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Reporting to the Area Construction Lead, you will play a crucial role in the logistics, planning, and execution of construction activities.
Principal Accountabilities
Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expert support in civil or MEH (Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC) to contract partners for efficient and timely delivery of works packages.
Safety and Quality Oversight: Recommend temporary measures to mitigate safety and quality concerns, and take appropriate action to maintain continuous operations.
Performance Monitoring: Drive on-site works and ensure contractor performance aligns with the agreed programme, escalating concerns and providing solutions.
Daily Site Logs: Review daily site logs to ensure detailed reporting and escalate issues to the Area Construction Lead.
Communication: Maintain proactive communication with site functions (H&S, quality, surveillance, commercial, project controls, logistics) and other Senior Construction Delivery Managers.
Planning Meetings: Regularly attend PLOD/PLOW meetings with contractors to ensure short-term planning aligns with the overall delivery schedule.
Safety Inspections: Undertake safety and assurance inspections to support the project's health, safety, and performance indicators.
Documentation Review: Act as lead reviewer for safety-related documents submitted by contract partners, ensuring timely review and feedback.
Emergency Response: Provide support as a construction SME to the project Emergency Response Team during site emergencies.
Contractual Support: Collaborate with contract PMs to support and guide responses to contractual correspondence.
Line Management: Fulfil line management responsibilities, including setting objectives, monitoring performance, and mentoring Construction Delivery Managers.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Extensive experience in delivering large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders, including construction sequencing, recovery planning, and resource allocation.
Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and obligations.
Proven ability to write concise, informative reports and present findings professionally.
Experienced in motivating and energizing contract partners, fostering an environment of trust and collaboration.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent vocational training and experience.
SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
Results-focused mindset with a proactive approach to ensuring action and delivering excellence.
Ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple stakeholders effectively.Desirable:
Experience in a high-security, highly regulated environment.
Membership in a professional body such as the Institution of Civil/Structural/Mechanical Engineers.
Experience within the Nuclear environment or large Civil Engineering/Building/MEH projects
