Project Engineer

Location: Carlisle, CA3 0EH
Salary: £40-45K per annum

Our client Carr’s Engineering is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their exciting team. The role involves managing various projects from customer enquiry through to completion. Liaising with customers, other project engineers, suppliers, and colleagues is a key part of this role.

They design, manufacture, and service bespoke equipment, vessels, precision components, and remote handling systems, alongside providing specialist engineering services in the Nuclear, Defence, Oil & Gas, Motorsport, Pharmaceutical, and Renewable industries. With over 120 years of experience, they provide industry-leading services to a portfolio of long-standing customers.

Key Responsibilities

* Interpret work instructions and drawings.

* Review drawings for suitability for manufacture and attend manufacturability reviews.

* Understand technical information and quality documentation in response to customer requirements.

* Manage complete projects or sections of projects, applying technical expertise to solve problems, evaluate improvements, manage, and support colleagues to ensure that targets and deadlines are met.

* Support project managers on large-scale projects, attending technical reviews, working closely with the workshop, and managing technical queries.

* Coordinate engineering documentation and workshop activities in conjunction with the production manager.

* Review client requirements and assist with material procurement.

* Carry out project reviews to ensure cost, time, and quality objectives are achieved.

* Coordinate internal resources and subcontractors to ensure project completion.

* Identify efficiency gains, ensuring the availability of resources, materials, and equipment.

* Ensure that equipment is built/installed according to customer drawings and information.

* Manage projects, providing guidance to the site team and working with the Project Manager to offer solutions to unforeseen issues.

Requirements for the Role

* Degree-level qualification in Engineering or similar.

* Ability to apply logical, analytical, and innovative thinking to a range of technical problems.

* Ability to work effectively in a team.

* Proficiency in interpreting mechanical drawings and work instructions.

* Commercial awareness, including knowledge of NEC3 Engineering and Construction Contracts.

* Ability to prioritize workshop loading, manage labor, and proficiently use Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.

* Valid driving licence.
