The Opportunity

Join our expanding project team and be part of one of the UK's most exciting and largest mega-projects The Project is set to revolutionise the UK's energy strategy, contributing significantly to the nation's climate change agenda and energy policy. With planning approval and Government financing support, the project is now under construction and seeking private investment. Once completed, it will supply dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, aiding Britain in achieving Net Zero by 2050.

We're looking for several Assistant Project Managers from the construction or energy sector to join our expanding site team, working on site in Leiston.

This will be a pivotal role key to the success of SZC, and you'll be joining the project at a vital time in its construction, with an opportunity to grow with the project.

Job Purpose / Overview

You'll be based on site, responsible for supporting our project managers with the delivery of highways and associated structures and utilities, within budget and on schedule to support the successful build of the project.

You will be responsible for the following:

Design and construction of on and off-site infrastructure
Park and Ride sites
Rail works
Accommodation campus
Temporary cabins
Temporary construction roads
Hard-standing's
Utility networks (potable water, comms & data, power, firefighting water, etc.)
Highway works (bypasses, public realm works to adoptable standards)Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

Proven project management experience in large-scale infrastructure, construction or energy projects, preferably client-side, such as such as HS2, HPC, Thames Tideway, CrossRail, Transport for London (TfL). Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.

Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
Civil Engineering background.
Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in the energy or construction sector.
Experience of managing multidisciplinary teams.
Experience of working with extensive supply chains of professional and technical service providers. Managing designers, contractors, suppliers.
Experience in procurement processes and contract management and working within a regulated environment.
Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards in the construction sector.
Proficient in risk and schedule management technique's.
Knowledge of CDM regulations.
Can do attitude and willingness to learn and develop.
Ability to manage external and internal stakeholders.
