Job Overview:
We are looking for flexible and reliable Day-to-Day School Assistants to join our pool of on-call staff in Oxfordshire. This zero-hour contract role is perfect for individuals who are looking for flexible working hours and have a passion for supporting students and school staff. As a School Assistant, you will provide essential support across various functions within the school, including classroom assistance, administrative tasks, and general support duties.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Support:
Assist teachers with classroom management and lesson preparation.
Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by the teacher.
Supervise students during break times, lunchtime, and other non-instructional periods.
Administrative Assistance:
Support the school office with administrative tasks such as filing, photocopying, and managing student records.
Answer phone calls and handle inquiries from parents, students, and visitors.
Assist with the preparation and distribution of school communications and notices.
General Duties:
Help set up and tidy classrooms, halls, and other learning environments.
Support with the organization and supervision of school events, trips, and activities.
Provide assistance with the maintenance of school resources and supplies.
Pupil Welfare:
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Administer basic first aid when necessary (training will be provided if required).
Report any concerns regarding student welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.
Flexibility and Adaptability:
Be available to work on short notice, covering staff absences and providing support where needed.
Adapt to different roles and responsibilities depending on the school's needs on any given day.
Show willingness to work across various departments and support multiple functions within the school.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children or in a school environment is preferred.
Basic administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Desirable:
First aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
Previous experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of school policies and procedures.
