Educated Appointments are excited to supporting a Norwich based provider of alternative vocational education for young people aged 12-19, to hire a study programme recruitment officer.
Our client were established in 1965, originally as an accommodation project for the young homeless. In 2004 started to consider how preventative work for the less able could act as a means of providing opportunities that had passed them by. We opened our vocational learning hub in 2012, providing an alternative learning environment for young people with few or no qualifications. We support those who have experienced problems in life and the traditional education system.
Core responsibilities
* Completing contractual paperwork, including starter paperwork and leaver paperwork in accordance with ESFA guidelines.
* Ensuring high quality recruitment, to meet contractual targets.
* To support with making clear needs assessment of referrals into the centre and manage support requirements through a thorough interview process.
* Liaise with professionals and other services working with the young person to create a holistic support approach to ensure their programme has every chance of success.
* To efficiently complete inductions for new students and the timely processing of enrolment paperwork in accordance with ESFA guidelines.
* Monitoring students’ progress and achievement whilst on programme, and tracking progression upon completion, to monitor success rates of positive destinations over a six-month period.
* Filing, management of papers, and electronic documentation.
* Enabling and supporting students to develop their employability skills through securing successful work placements for the young people.
* Providing Careers Information, Advice and Guidance in one-to-one work preparation sessions and group career workshops during students study programme to support them to successfully progress onto further education, employment or training upon completion of their course. This will involve creating CV’s, completing application forms, and supporting mock interviews.
* Seeking employers through liaising with local companies to find work experience opportunities for the young people on programme, and promote community projects where external work experience is not possible or appropriate, taking into consideration the students’ abilities and career aspirations.
* Completing all associated paperwork to evidence career sessions and work experience placements including evidencing this on the tracker.
* Planning employability days to support and promote the success of work placement opportunities.
* Positively promoting all courses through networking with referral agencies and employers.
* Any other duties as may be reasonably requested by, and Study Programme Manager that you are suitably trained for and considered capable of carrying out.

* To ensure that all staff and students are aware of and comply with our safeguarding requirements and comply with our safeguarding policies and practices laid down
* To undertake Continual Professional Development (CPD) some of which you may be required to undertake in your own time, ensuring that all vocational and teaching and learning knowledge is current and up to date
Personal Specification
Essential
* Achieved a minimum of grade C, 4 or equivalent in Maths and English
* Experience of delivering Information, Advice and Guidance sessions
* Working in a demanding environment; ability to multi-task
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to self-manage workload
* Ability to plan and prepare work in advance
Desirable
* Youth work/Working with Young people qualification level 2 or above
* Information advice and guidance qualification, level 3 or above
* Experience in mentoring or supporting people to learn
* Experience in working with individuals and groups who are disengaged from learning
* Some experience of working in difficult and challenging clients
* Understanding the importance of equality and diversity and safeguarding procedures
