We have an urgent requirement for a Senior Information Governance & Data Protection Officer.
The role is within the public sector, is to cover long term sickness and offers attractive hybrid working
The Main Purpose of the Role:
Manage a high quality access to information governance (ie. Freedom of Information, Environmental Information Regulations, Subject Access Requests, Re-Use of Public Sector Information, Inspire Regulations and Data Protection Enquiries) service, in order to uphold statutory obligations.
Carry out the necessary functions for the Data Protection Officer, ensuring the obligations of the data protection regulations are upheld and the data is handled within the confines of the law.
Assist and advise other sections on information management and data protection, including carrying out internal reviews, dealing with ICO complaints, data protection impact assessments and training.
To support and manage a team of information governance officers.
Essential Experience & Knowledge:
Good basic education to GCSE A to C standard or equivalent, including maths and English or recent experience that demonstrates proficiency
Practitioner Certificate in Freedom of Information and/or Data Protection or equivalent experience.
Demonstrable previous experience in a similar role within local government (Information Governance and Data Protection)
Demonstrable in depth understanding of legislation relating to information, data protection, and confidentiality
Knowledge of access to information law and practice.
Any experience of managing a team helpful.
The ability to interpret and advise on relevant legislation
The ability to operate on our own initiative with minimal supervision
Excellent written and oral communication skills
High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Competent user of it particularly Ms Office
The ability to analyse data, draw conclusions and report on it
Good presentation skills
Package:
37 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Flexible/hybrid working
Rate of pay: £18.45 - £20.97 per hour
