About the Role

I am seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join my clients Simulator Engineering team, responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of our Helicopter Simulators. In this role, you will provide technical and operational support, including software configuration, system maintenance, fault diagnosis, and contributing to software development for our flight simulators.

This position offers an exciting variety of tasks, ranging from developing software code, scripts, and system configurations to implementing new flight systems in the simulator, integrating new functionalities, and conducting fault-finding investigations to ensure the simulators remain operational for flight training.

Key Responsibilities

- Execute assigned software development tasks, including coding and software implementation.
- Conduct various types of testing, including debugging and robustness testing.
- Provide accurate time estimates for software task completion and identify potential risks.
- Investigate and resolve faults reported by simulator users.

About You

We are looking for candidates who possess:

- Initiative, creativity, and resourcefulness within an agile development team.
- The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C/C++, C#, or Fortran.
- Experience with scripting languages like BASH/CSH.
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux administration.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP and network troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with IDEs such as Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Experience with Windows, Xterm, and XWindows environments.

Desirable Qualifications

- Exposure to modeling and simulation or a background in defense and security.
- Experience with service-based architectures.
- Familiarity with networking standards such as DDS and ZeroMQ.

Additional Information

- Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
- Some tasks may require travel within the UK and abroad, including occasional overtime and weekend work.
- Applicants must be eligible to obtain or transfer Security Clearance, which the company sponsors. Candidates must have lived continuously in the UK for the past five years or currently hold NATO SC level Security Clearance that can be transferred to the UK
