Job Purpose:
To work as part of a team providing a high quality day care services for people with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour which enables service users to live with a maximum of choice and independence, participating in a wide range of community based activities, designed to meet their individual need.

To be responsible for the wellbeing of service users, giving adequate support to maximise their dignity, independence, privacy and choice of how they spend their day and to treat all clients, equally and with respect irrespective of gender, race ethnicity or age

To support service users using a person centred approach. This will include the implementation of their Support Plans in partnership with the service user, Care Managers and other relevant parties

To be involved in a range of development activities which contribute to the further development of a socially inclusive service model that enable service users to access mainstream facilities/activities in their local community

To build up particular expertise in one or two key areas, for example, employment, volunteering, sports, leisure and healthy living, education, knowledge of cultural and faith resources.

Qualifications
NVQ Level 3

Knowledge

Knowledge of the management of people with challenging behaviour and autism.

Knowledge of the policies and procedures related to the safeguarding of vulnerable adults.

Health and Safety Regulations.

Lifting and Handling

Appropriate equipment and aids to use with people with learning disabilities

Experience
Significant proven experience working with adults with challenging behaviour and autism.

Experience of providing all aspects of personal care.

Experience of providing recreational and educational activities.

Responding to emergencies i.e. falls, seizures, fire emergency, evacuation and identifying safeguarding measures.

To deal with challenging behaviour and report any incident or accident immediately
