About this Role:
Senior Planner required to work with the Regional Office of this busy main contractor, based in Newbury, Berkshire. You will be responsible for producing construction programmes for multiple projects which will comprise new build schools and colleges, commercial offices, scientific buildings, retirement living, etc.
The role will require you to produce programmes for projects at tender stage, detailed construction programmes in second stage preconstruction development and for construction phase. You will work with the preconstruction team within the regional office, plus visit your assigned projects to conduct progress checks, liaise with and support the site teams and report to the Construction Director.
The role is to work between office and sites to produce detailed planning for the schemes, review progress of works against programme, update and reprogram phases of work where necessary, review progress toward key milestones and key handover dates, etc.
Knowledge and understanding of construction processes, technical aspects of design and practical buildability, with the ability to construct a programme of works is critical.
Working with the Preconstruction teams and project teams you will be likely to have input to 2-3 schemes at a time, working between office and site visits. There will be some flexibility and opportunity for agile working also.
The initial projects are all education / leisure / retirement living schemes ranging in value from £8m to £25m, predominantly new build, but also comprising a proportion of phases refurbishment works.
About the Company/Client/Project:
The role is with the Berkshire based regional office of this leading main contractor, covering the Thames Valley/Hampshire areas; Turnover s circa £85m for the region.
Scope of works includes education schools, colleges and university faculty buildings, commercial offices, local authority, leisure, industrial buildings and retirement living, with projects typically ranging in value from £8m to £25m. Workload is secured via a mixture of regional frameworks, competitive tenders, and negotiated work for repeat clients.
Requirements including certificates and qualifications:
Ideally from an Engineering and Site Management background with a main contractor, you will possess excellent communication skills, planning and problem solving ability, in depth technical knowledge with excellent attention to detail, and a positive, 'get it right first time' approach.
Experience of and ability to use MS Project proficiently is essential, plus the ability to effectively program construction activities for projects and practical site experience to support this.
You will possess sound technical knowledge together ideally with the experience of working with a large project main contractor construction team.
