Overview:
Tameside Council is seeking an experienced and committed Interim Service Manager to lead our Children's Placement/Brokerage Team. This key role involves managing a dedicated team tasked with finding and securing both emergency and planned placements for children and young people. The role demands an in-depth understanding of the pressures associated with children's social care placements and requires flexibility to support extended hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and supervise the Children's Placement/Brokerage Team, including one Team Manager and four brokers.
Oversee the process of finding and securing emergency and planned placements for children and young people.
Manage and respond to the high-pressure demands of the role, including the requirement to stay beyond regular office hours as needed.
Provide interim support and leadership to other teams within the service portfolio, including the Care Leavers Service and Fostering, in the absence of Service Managers.
Ensure high standards of professional practice and compliance with all regulatory guidelines.
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery and meet the needs of children and families effectively.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the team and broader service area.Requirements:
Proven experience in managing children's placement services or similar roles within children's social care.
Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage teams under challenging circumstances.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Capability to handle high-pressure situations and make critical decisions.
Understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding children's social care.
Flexibility to work additional hours and commit to a full-time schedule, with three days working from home and one day on-site.Benefits:
