We are excited to announce the new role with our client who is currently recruiting for a Quality Manager. This well-known engineering manufacturer is beautifully located near the Devon and Dorset borders. They have a prestigious client base within the Aerospace, Automotive, Oil & Gas and defence industries.

As the newly appointed Quality manager, you will take on full responsibility for all day-to-day functions of the QC department, lead and develop inspectors, and have a hands-on approach with customer components coming off the shop floor. This will consist of First offs and final inspections therefore a complete understanding of drawings, metrology equipment and engineering practices is essential.

Ensuring components are manufactured to a high standard, both in terms of dimensional accuracy, and aesthetics, this lead role will also develop processes and procedures to drive continuous improvements as they strive to provide a top-quality service driving on-time delivery and a non-contested reputation.

Previous experience in ISO9001QMS systems is an advantage. Our client is currently working towards AS9100, and seeing through this transition will be a high priority for this role.

Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm

Responsibilities:

* Head up the re-deployment of our QMS to AS9100 (currently ISO9001)

* Devise and review specifications for procedures, and product specific controls

* Oversee the metrology budget & gauge maintenance / calibration systems

* Understand customer needs and requirements to develop effective quality control processes

* Supervise inspectors, technicians, and other staff, and provide; guidance, feedback, & training

* Inspect & verify final output

* Drive an ethos of absolute quality performance throughout the business

* Maintain accurate documentation & traceability systems

* Measure and maintain Quality KPI's

* Compile & submit detailed reports to management, & customers when required

* Continuous sustainable improvement of new & existing quality procedures

* Requirements

* Proven experience within a senior quality role

* Experience within a precision engineering environment

* In depth understanding of ISO 9001 quality control procedures

* Understanding of record keeping, including an awareness for the need of full tractability

* Conscientious and responsible

* A keen eye for detail and a results driven approach

* Great communication skills

* Excellent organizational and leadership skills

* Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
