We are seeking an experienced Assistant Operations Manager to join a Swindon based Logistics Company.

This is a brand new permanent role that has come has come about due to growth within the organisation.

About the Assistant Operations Manager role:

You will be responsible for assisting the Operations Manager with overseeing and managing all aspects of the company’s operations including HMRC & customs, Bonded, ISO, H&S, and HR. This includes coordinating and monitoring the movement of goods, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards, managing a team of staff, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers.

Responsibilities for the Assistant Operations Manager role:

* Provide support to the operations manager in the day to day running of the organisation

* Develop work rules and guidelines for company employees

* Identify what is required for staff to carry out their duties

* Schedule projects and ensure assignments are carried out as planned

* Work hand-in-hand with Senior Management staff concerning work/operational issues and other activities

* Draw up reports regarding operations in the company and pass them to Senior Management as requested

* Preparing department budgets for the company so that at the end of the year, performances (profits or losses) will be analysed alongside the original budget

* Assist with the onboarding of new employees, to ensure they understand / comply with to company standards and procedures to complete tasks satisfactorily

* Identify opportunities for improvement and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and profitability.

* Carry out evaluation of company’s present operational goals and suggest ways of improving important areas

* Educate operations team on company policies and excellent service standards.

* Ensure all department invoicing is up to date and accurate in time for month end sales reporting.

* Manage the performance of others constructively by providing direction and feedback: recognising good performance and agreeing plans to improve poor performance.

* Identify issues that affect customer service performance and implement strategies for improvement.

Experience & Skills required for the Assistant Operations Manager role:

* Proven experience working within a similar role

* Up to date knowledge of H&S regulations within a Logistics environment.

* Proven experience leading operations in a Logistics / Freight Forwarding environment.

* Understanding of business management principles.

* Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage at all levels of the business

* Exceptional customer focused and driven

* Oversee financial issues and the development of long term goals that enhance company growth

* Strong Analytical skills

* Result-oriented, with problem solving ability

* Disciplined and sense of responsibility

* Ability to work within a pressurised environment, whilst working to strict deadlines

* To be able to excel in troubled and sometimes hectic circumstances

* Accurate / attention to detail
