Ecologist - Badger

We are seeking an Ecologist with expertise in badger habitats to join their team under a contract role.
Key Responsibilities:
Conducting field surveys to observe and document badger activity and habitats, particularly in areas impacted by highway development projects
Assessing potential impacts of development projects on badger populations and their habitats
Obtaining and managing required licences for working with badgers, ensuring compliance with legal and environmental regulations
Developing and implementing mitigation strategies to minimise effects on badger populations
Collaborating with project teams to integrate ecological considerations into the planning and execution of highway projects
Preparing detailed ecological reports and management plans
Engaging with stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors, and environmental groups, to promote conservation efforts
Job Requirements:
Experience in ecological surveys and assessments, with a particular focus on badger ecology
Understanding of highway development projects and their ecological impacts
Knowledge of relevant licensing requirements and regulations pertaining to badger conservation
Proficient in developing and implementing mitigation strategies
Excellent report writing and communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
Relevant degree in ecology, environmental science, or related field
A full driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites as required
