Job description
Overview:
V3 Recruitment are seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join our clients team in coordinating and optimising transport operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient transportation processes. This Role is a permanent position based in Portsmouth
Monday - Friday 8.30 - 5.30 or 9am - 6pm.
Key Tasks -
1. Transport Routing
Using the route optimisation system, ensure that Collection Operatives are routed efficiently with the objective of achieving the maximum number of collections possible, meeting Service Level Agreements, observing special collection requests, complying with UK Legislation regarding working and driving hours hours, the European Working Time Directive and the company tipping list.
Ensure that vehicles due for planned maintenance / inspection / refurbishment etc are routed to meet scheduled dates and business requirements.
Assist with scheduling relocation to /and collection of vehicle$ from depots and maintenance I inspection and refurbishment locations.
Reschedule work as necessary to cover driver absence, vehicle unavailability or other collection failures.
1. Transport Administration
Make sure all collection vehicles are moving at start of day. Investigate any that do not appear to be moving and inform the Transport Team I Operations Manager.
Ensure that all Collection Operatives are debriefed daily and record this on COMPSOFT.
Take full details of any collection failures and record the information on COMPSOFT in the prescribed format immediately notification is received.
Deal with vehicle breakdowns as and when necessary, remembering to record failed collections as necessary.
Communicate with Collection Operatives throughout the working day to resolve any problems and answer queries or give advice. Escalate to the relevant member of the Transport Team I Operations Manager as necessary.
Ensure that Collection Operatives' feedback is passed to the correct members of staff promptly as necessary.
Any other ad-hoc duties as and when required to support the needs of the business.
Essential Criteria:
Experience in a Transport office environment
Knowledge of transport & distribution
Good geographical knowledge
Knowledge of drivers hours, vehicle compliance etc…
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £31,000.00 per year
