About Us: We are working with a leading haulage company specialising in the efficient and reliable transportation of goods across the UK. With a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and operational excellence, our client is expanding their presence in the North of England therefore are looking to add a dynamic Business Development Manager to join their team.

Overview: As a Business Development Manager, you will play a crucial role in driving the growth and success of our haulage services in the North of England. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, building, and maintaining client relationships, and achieving sales targets. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of the haulage industry and a proven track record in business development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Research & Analysis:
  • Conduct thorough market research to identify potential clients and business opportunities within the haulage sector.
  • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to develop strategic sales plans.
  • Sales & Business Development:
  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies to achieve business growth objectives.
  • Identify and approach potential clients to establish new business relationships.
  • Present their haulage services to prospective clients, demonstrating a strong understanding of their needs and how their solutions can meet them.
  • Negotiate contracts and close deals to secure new business.
  • Client Relationship Management:
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing exceptional service and support.
  • Act as the main point of contact for clients, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork:
  • Work closely with the operations, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure seamless delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns that support business development efforts.
  • Reporting & Analysis:
  • Prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on data analysis and market feedback.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Business Development Manager or in a similar sales role within the haulage or logistics industry in either UK/Irish or EU haulage.
  • Strong understanding of the haulage market.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software.
  • Valid UK driving license.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field is preferred but not essential.
