An exciting opportunity has arisen at Leicester's Hospitals for someone who is passionate about working with patients and communities to improve NHS services.


As a Trust, we are committed to tackling health inequalities. The work of the Patient and Community Engagement team is central to supporting this ambition.


As a Patient and Community Engagement Officer, you will work as part of a small team to engage with people across our local population. The role entails building relationships with communities, understanding their experience, and identifying areas for service improvement. The post holder will also work with hospital staff exploring how patient and community voices can influence and steer their work.


These range from patient focus groups and community sessions to lager conferences and the Trust's Annual Public Meeting. You will also be required to produce engagement reports, manage the development of patient reference groups, provide support and guidance to staff and participate in the management of the Trust's public membership.


Organisation skills would be a distinct advantage, as would previous experience of community engagement and event management. We are a small, but supportive team, united by our passion to make a difference and improve the health outcomes and experience of people who use our hospital services.
Events management - coordinating a wide range of events including focus groups with patients, community engagement events and virtual events.


UHL Public Membership - contribute to the management of the Trust's Public membership database.


Data analysis -Gathering and analysing of information derived from public involvement events and presenting this data in reports.

About the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust:


Evidence of professional development in the engagement field


Experience in planning and implementing public involvement activity, and integrating involvement outputs into work programmes and campaigns


Previous experience of working in a community or public / patient engagement role


Experience of implementing a local community/public engagement plan


Ability to speak additional language(s)
