Senior Commissioning Engineer

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting a Senior Commissioning Engineer on a Permanent basis, covering sites in England (Van provided).
We are looking for an enthusiastic & driven Commissioning Engineer to join our client’s Energy Division to test and commission electrical transmission Substation Control Systems (SCS); This role is suitable for existing Commissioning Engineers or Test Engineers with a desire to move into site commissioning activities.
have an understanding of system engineering design and be prepared to be involved in and lead site visits for the purpose of installation & commissioning work. The suitable candidate would also be required to contribute to the creation and development of test & commissioning documentation.
Full training on our client's range of Substation Control Systems will be provided by our vastly experienced and knowledgeable team. This position would suit someone who has a good grounding in engineering & an appreciation for test/commissioning techniques, who is keen to work on site and is keen to learn and develop new skills as part of an experienced and committed team.
Carry out site acceptance testing/commissioning activities in line with approved test documentation both in the factory test environment and at client’s sites.
* Technical supervision of installation works on client sites
* Ensure work (installation, test & commissioning) is carried out in line with agreed technical procedures, methods and standards
* Collation & management of project commissioning file
* Mark-up of drawings and schematics where changes are identified as required through test and commissioning activities
* Involvement in creation & preparation of commissioning/test documentation
* Deployment of configuration files to SCADA BCU’s, RTU’s, IED’s etc. and Network devices (Ethernet Switches etc.) Preparation of site materials/commissioning spares/test documentation prior to project delivery on site.
Suitably qualified or experienced in an Electrical Engineering discipline
* Good understanding of Test/Commissioning techniques
* Experience in fault finding on electrical/electronic systems
* Understanding of communication networks and differing communication protocols and media types utilised (i.e. Understand electrical safety and the control of isolations (LOTO)
* Computer literate with respect to the production of documentation (Microsoft Office)
* Computer literate with respect to the deployment of configuration files & verification to electrical devices
* Hold a current full driving licence (UK or be able to easily convert to full UK)
Experience of writing, developing & contributing to specifications/plans (Commissioning or Test)
* Completed C&G 2391 Inspection & Testing course
* Experience of industrial supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems
* Holds National Grid Commissioning Passport and/or knowledge of National Grid Procedures & Specifications
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD (for minor changes/navigation of drawings)
