A rare opportunity has arisen for a talented Sous Chef to join our brigade at The Square. The successful candidate will take a senior role in producing exquisite modern British / European cuisine as part of a friendly, supportive team of six chefs and three kitchen porters. Working with the finest locally sourced fresh ingredients, our new Sous Chef can expect to work to our seasonal à la carte menu, private dining events, weddings, member functions and much more

The Square is one of the most exciting and stylish venues in Bristol, combining an award-winning restaurant, exclusive private members club and lively bar. The Square is also one of the most sought after event spaces in the city, playing host to a variety of public events, as well as private weddings and other celebrations.

Key information for the Sous Chef role:

Hours: Full time, 5 shifts per week

Salary: Package of £36,200, comprising £32,000 basic salary, £1,000 loyalty bonus (paid every Jan), £1,800 performance bonus and up to £1400 service charge.

Signing on bonus: You will receive a £350 signing on bonus on completion of your probation period (12 weeks)

Who are we looking for in a Sous Chef?

The ideal candidate will have a real flair for cooking, a sense of fun, excellent leadership skills, a winning personality and a strong work ethic. As Sous Chef you will be the right-hand person to our Head Chef, responsible for the smooth running of the kitchen in their absence. You will be involved in menu development by giving menu input on a regular basis, including special event menus. Some experience in fine dining and working with fresh ingredients is essential.

This would be a great opportunity for an existing Junior Sous Chef or Sous Chef who is looking to build upon previous experience and knowledge in a thriving and successful restaurant. You will be joining a passionate and highly skilled team who work hard to produce the Square's exquisite and ever-changing menu but have fun while doing so

The interview process:

The interview process will involve a first round telephone interview with a member of the HR team. Applicants who are successful at this stage will then be invited in to a paid trial £13.46 per hour) that will last for up to 6 hours to include an interview with the General Manager at the Square. The trial will span some prep time and some service time so both parties have a good understanding of each other
