Discover a new kind of career in healthcare as a functional specialist
Are you working in healthcare, and looking for a change? If youre a nurse (RGN, RMN or RNLD) occupational therapist, physiotherapist or paramedic, you could use your skills differently as a functional specialist .
Our client provides unbiased, comprehensive assessments for claimants of the Governments disability allowance (Personal Independence Payment), over the phone, on a video call or in person, either at one of our assessment centres or in claimants homes. Were looking for people with the compassion and experience to understand our claimants health conditions/disabilities and how they impact their lives. And we need people who can balance that with great computer skills, impartiality and strong time management.
Day to Day
You will be conducting initial reviews, paper-based, face-to-face, video or telephone assessments to evaluate how a claimants health condition or disability affects their day-to-day life
Our client's hybrid model means youll be based at home and assigned to work from your nearest assessment centre on a rota basis to deliver face-to-face assessments. Youll spend additional time in our centres or office locations to catch up with your manager and wider team or attend in-person training sessions.
To create the report you will be observing and reporting on an individuals ability to carry out activities whilst analysing and interpreting clinical information and supporting evidence. You will create three comprehensive 3,000-4,000-word reports of the evidence gathered for each claimant, each day. You will be trained to provide detail, evidence and justification are given to support the DWP in making decisions
Our Offer
Its a challenging role and can be quite different from other healthcare professions, and thats why our client takes your training and development seriously. Youll begin with a 12 week, training programme (Mon-Fri, 9am-5pm) with time set aside for self-development learning. We also have 3 day and 4 day training options available.
The first six months can be the most difficult, so well be there to support you, with close mentorship provided as you work on your ongoing development. Everyone starts at £38,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time) plus a 5% retention bonus. On achievement of remote approved status, your salary will increase to £39,900 plus up to 10% bonus. On achievement of face-to-face delivery, your salary will increase to £41,500 plus up to 10% bonus.
