Director of Performance Ports & Terminals - Europe
The Role
The Director of Performance Ports and Terminals position is critical to support the integration and growth trajectory of the business as it strives to offer end to end solutions to trade, it will support growth plans of existing operations as well as the plans for the various pillars to grow and expand service offerings.
This is a hybrid opportunity based out of our Regional Head Office in Victoria, London, and will require travel throughout Europe to our ports and terminals.
Main Responsibilities
Work proactively with the Head of Ports & Terminals to pursue and achieve excellence in our asset management and deliver a “best in class” approach. More specifically:
- Governance – ensuring good governance in the operations of the portfolio particularly on assets in a JV.
- Value preservation – take the lead to ensure that the occurrence of issues within a project are minimized, and that any that do arise are promptly and successfully resolved or appropriately mitigated.
- Value enhancement – take the lead to proactively identify and deliver all achievable value enhancement opportunities and to ensure that all valuation assumptions are understood and actioned or amended as appropriate.
- Stakeholder management – develop and manage key stakeholder relationships and identify and implement actions and initiatives that may constructively improve these. Attend, contribute to, and where appropriate, lead key meetings and other key interactions.
- Carry out asset specific and portfolio wide analysis, taking a proactive and entrepreneurial approach to identify and deliver value initiatives across the portfolio.
- To Lead the monthly reviews with the sites in the region and to prepare (and substantially present) the monthly MBR for the Ports and Terminal pillar in the region.
- Support the active management of the EUR portfolio, and where applicable represent the company and share skill by taking on Board positions.
- To play a key role in driving projects in the region such as changes in shareholding levels, shareholder agreements & JV partner disputes.
- Lead and mobilise resources in the preparation / review of detailed financial models including all key assumptions while performance and conduct sensitivity analyses to determine potential returns.
- To work with the logistics pillar to develop joint value propositions.
- To work with the terminals on developing projects and strategies to get the terminal closer to BCOs.
- Produce, with minimal supervision and to a high standard strategic analyses and recommendation for Senior Corporate Management regarding strategic decisions on existing operations.
- Coordinate and manage the integration process for newly acquired businesses to existing operations.
- Support the Head of Ports & Terminals in communicating key business challenges and recommended priorities to senior management.
- Provide the Leadership team with relevant and timely information to enable it to contribute to the company’s strategy and objectives.
- Reviewing all the capex proposals submitted by the units and ensuring they submit high quality project appraisals.
- Maintain strong relationships and ensures efficiency, quality and aligned strategies with external partners whilst coordinating with external professionals to create actionable sustainability plans for all assets.
Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you must have/be.
- Extensive credible expertise in the ports and logistics industry, as well as a demonstrated track record of business development initiatives.
- Exhibit exceptional relationship management and networking skills, as well as a true passion for the sector. Persuasion and business negotiation abilities are essential, as is the ability to maintain strategic partnerships.
- A financial qualification is strongly preferred because this role necessitates comprehensive financial analysis, forecasting, project costing, planning, and budget monitoring, as well as a high level of competency and comprehension of legal documents and financing structures.
- Proactive in your efforts to develop, innovate, and execute changes that will drive and support the business, while also supporting a strong performance culture.
- Possess strong communication skills in all forms, and a working knowledge of European culture and work environment.
