Main duties of the job LNWUH Paediatric Diabetes Nursing Service is seeking an experienced diabetic children's nurse, to join the team which works across LNWH NHS Trust. The Band 7 role requires an experienced, dynamic nurse with diabetic knowledge and understanding. You will need to be flexible and forward thinking, able to work independently and as part of a small friendly and supportive team delivering specialist nursing care to a diverse caseload. There will be a strong focus to deliver an 'out of hospital' agenda across community based pathways to reduce hospital attendances and length of stay. There is Trust wide commitment to develop and lead diabetic children's nursing into an exciting and outcomes driven future, through integration and partnership working, to ensure seamless delivery of services across the health system to meet the needs of children and young people across borough with diabetes. The post holder will require excellent communication and clinical skills and have previous experience of planning and delivering care for children and young people with diabetes across hospital and community settings. They will need a commitment to education to ensure the service remains current in developments in the care and management of children and young people with Diabetes. - St Mark's Hospital: an internationally renowned specialist centre for bowel disease
- Ealing Hospital: a busy district general hospital providing a range of clinical services, as well as 24/7 emergency department and urgent care centre, and specialist care at Meadow House Hospice
- Central Middlesex Hospital: our planned care site, hosting a range of surgical and outpatient services and collocated with an urgent care centre.
- NMC Registration Part 8 or 15-Children's Nursing
- Post graduate Paediatric diabetes qualification or equivalent
- Teaching/assessment programme or equivalent Community qualification or equivalent
- Considerable post registration experience.
- Considerable experience within acute/community paediatric setting, including the care of children with diabetes
- Able to demonstrate evidence based practice
- Participated in nurse led clinics
- Previous experience of
- Able to work autonomously and within multi- disciplinary team
- Able to prioritise and manage own caseload
- Evidence of service development
- Active interest in teaching and supervision of students
- IT and database skills
- An awareness of cultural and social differences
- Specialist interest Motivated towards own professional development
