This is a newly created role within a thriving production company that specialise in making scripted/drama TV series & Films for UK & US Broadcasters. With a healthy slate, this business is renowned for producing award-winning content and continues to bring smart & entertaining programmes to a global audience.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will play a pivotal role in the company’s financial control and reporting processes. You will be responsible for liaising around the business ensuring the monthly pack is produced and the year-end accounts for the main company and SPVs/subsidiaries are completed and filed on time.
To be a suitable candidate you will be recently qualified and it is essential that you have previous/relevant accounting experience gained either directly in a TV/Film Production company or whilst training within an accountancy practice.
This exciting role is varied and fast-paced and requires an approachable, friendly and professional individual who likes to take pride in their work.
This role will be fully remote with the occasional requirement to meet the team in London.
Responsibilities of the role include:
- Prepare the monthly accounts including variance analysis
- Consolidate the company accounts to create the management accounts pack
- Prepare rolling forecasts for both P&L and cashflow
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and provide a robust annual forecast
- Review balance sheet control account reconciliations
- Assist with preparing the statutory accounting pack
- Royalty accounting including payment of Artist residuals
- Set up production bank accounts
- Calculate the monthly stage of completion for each production and post monthly income journal
- Post accruals and prepayments
- Oversee the raising of sales invoices for production milestones
- Prepare & submit quarterly UK VAT returns
Candidate specification:
- Recently qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong technical accounting skills with full knowledge of the latest accounting standards; Previous experience of producing management accounts and statutory accounts
- Direct accounting experience gained within either TV Production company or having worked with TV/Film production houses whilst in practice is essential, ideally with Scripted/Drama exposure
- Confident communication skills, written & verbal
- Self-motivated, committed to meeting deadlines and able to multi-task
- Great team player with strong interpersonal skills, able to be adaptable in your approach and build strong working relationships
- Able to work within a fast paced, dynamic environment, and grow in a business
- Great attention to detail and a willingness to roll your sleeves up
- Good Excel skills
