Fluor and Energy Materials, an Orbia business, is looking for a Lead E/I Technician to be based at our Rocksavage site, Runcorn, UK.

Main Purpose

Hands-on technical lead for E/I equipment’s installation, maintenance and troubleshooting across assigned areas. To carry out a programme of technical work including modifications, improvements and minor projects to maintain and improve plant operations as specified by the E/I Management Team. This will also incorporate the E/I on call rota in line with the departments’ requirements and CTF OVH supervision.

Main Responsibilities

  • Perform and provide hands-on technical support for E/I tasks such as inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting, acting as the lead E/I “technician” across assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Monitor and investigate plant and equipment performance to identify safety, technical or reliability problems and then help identify and implement appropriate improvement projects.
  • Manage planned and unforeseen modifications and minor capital / SR&M projects as assigned by the E/I Management Team for assigned areas. Liaise with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to seek resolution of E/I technical issues.
  • Act as a lead technician, quality control and source of technical information for both electrical and instrument activities on overhauls, installations and commissioning to satisfy the target plans and objectives.
  • Assist in the training and development of others (technicians and apprentices) by sharing and passing on technical knowledge and expertise on both electrical and instrument systems.
  • Ensure compliance with site SHE and engineering standards/instructions and implement required processes (M-Forms, Risk Assessments, Hazard Studies, etc.) to ensure safe delivery of all works.
  • To manage project documentation for assigned E/I projects to ensure that maintenance records, drawings and plant spares are considered and updated.
  • Provide support to the E/I Operating Engineer and E/I Coordinator as and when required to facilitate smooth functioning of the E/I department.
  • To act as an RPS (radiation protection supervisor) and assist with the management/maintenance of radioactive sources across site and assist with any audits involved with this.
  • Create Job specs for maintenance and project work alongside Co-ordinator in preparation for the CTF overhaul each year.
  • Supervise contractors and technicians throughout the annual overhaul of the chemical plants.
  • Convert work orders, order materials, goods receipt deliveries, book materials out of stores and assist Co-ordinator with various aspects of SAP.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: Recognised Technical Apprenticeship within a similar industry as an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical and Instrument Maintenance.
  • HND or equivalent in Electrical or Control Engineering.

Knowledge/ Experience Required

  • Proven experience as an Electrical and Instrument technician in the manufacturing sector.
  • Utilising safe systems of work with an understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Excellent technical skills on a range of relevant electrical and instrument systems.
  • Experience of the chemicals, pharma, or oil and gas industry.
  • Experience in managing small teams of technicians on minor projects or overhaul/task events.
  • Compex or equivalent with proven experience of hazardous area equipment inspections and remedial works.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
  • Good working understanding of computerised maintenance management systems and databases.
  • Good working knowledge of PLCs, VSDs, DCS Systems and SAP.
