ABOUT THE ROLE

The Manager, Babies’ Best Start oversees the multi-lingual family home visiting program that provides prenatal and parenting supports for families, in conjunction with Public Health Nurses (PHN) from Toronto Public Health (TPH), for the healthy growth and development of young children who may experience greater challenges related to the social determinants of health (e.g., newcomer status, emotional stressors, early childhood development etc.).

Salary range: $39.00 to $46.00 per hour.

This position is a one-year contract, 28 hours per week.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Ensure day to day supervision of employees to support delivery of high-quality service to clients.
  • Provide support and guidance to employees to provide information, resources, and other supports based on families’ needs/ goals as determined and outlined during joint service coordination meetings between parent, Family Home Visitor (FHV) and Public Health Nurse (PHN).
  • Complete administrative duties required for program operations.
  • Review and manage caseloads and service targets to ensure the program is meeting deliverables.
  • Input and implementation of organizational policies, procedures, guidelines, and initiatives as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • A College Diploma in Social Sciences or a related field.
  • Minimum 1 year of related supervisory experience.
  • Sound knowledge and training in infant and child development and early intervention.
  • Awareness of the role of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.

THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience working or managing in an Unionized environment.
  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
