The role of the Buyer will play a critical role in coordinating all activities related to procuring goods and services from suppliers. Reporting to the Procurement Specialist (Lead), the Buyer will be responsible for ensuring timely delivery, product quality, and cost-effectiveness in all procurement efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain computerised procurement records, including purchase orders, costs, delivery schedules, and inventories.
  • Place purchase orders for engineering materials, component parts, fabrications, and other peripheral items, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company procedures.
  • Conduct competitive bidding processes and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best possible price, terms, and conditions while upholding quality standards.
  • Expedite purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery and accuracy of information in all generated reports.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that all delivered commodities meet company standards and resolve any issues regarding product quality or performance.
  • Mentor and train junior staff members as needed.

Education or Experience:

  • Accredited qualification in Procurement (MCIPS), or directly related experience in a production, manufacturing, and design environment.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and other MS Office programs.
  • Experience with NEC3 type contracts.
  • Travel: Domestic and international travel may be expected.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to resolve supplier queries and respond to inquiries effectively.
  • Ability to understand and communicate in English at an advanced level
