We are working exclusively with our client, a reputable College based in Oxford, to recruit a College Accountant on an initial 6-month basis which could be extended further. This is an on-site role with a range of flexible working options.
The College Accountant is a senior member of the management team and plays a key role in College life. This post is a hands-on role overseeing the management of the accounting function, ensuring that all financial matters are dealt with in accordance with legislation and ethical accounting practice, and also playing a pivotal role in the development of financial strategy.
The main focus of the role will include but not be limited to:
* Leading the accounting function and managing a team of 3
* Partnering with the Principal, Vice Principal, Domestic Bursar, Senior Tutor, Development Director and Head of Department
* Prepare Group Charity SORP accounts and supporting schedules for the College and its subsidiaries
* Liaise with external auditors, including responsibility for managing the annual audit process
* Produce termly management accounts for presentation at the Finance Committee
* Prepare the annual budget in conjunction with the Bursar and budget holders
* Manage the College's tax affairs and oversee the VAT implications
The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator and possess strong leadership skills maximising and driving team performance. They will have a strong track record of providing high quality financial advice to both finance and non-finance heads and experience of working in the Education sector
