We have extensive experience in assessing the exposure and effects of a range of chemicals (industrial chemicals, pesticides, veterinary and human pharmaceuticals) on human health and the environment both for public and private sectors. This expertise is used in purpose-designed studies to address specific issues and generate data for incorporation in risk assessments of chemicals. Fera conducts a range of metabolism and environmental fate studies in which pre-identified chemicals need to be quantified (target compound analysis), or novel metabolites need to be identified.
The successful candidate will work closely with Study Directors and commercial customers in the identification and characterisation of unknown metabolites. This role is pivotal in advancing our understanding of chemical safety.

5 Monday – Friday (flexi between 7am & 7pm)
ASAP depending on recruitment and onboarding timelines.
Utilise advanced analytical techniques, including high resolution mass spectrometry (HRMS) and liquid chromatography with tandem quadrupole mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) to quantify target compounds and identify metabolites in a range of sample types including soil, sediment, water, plant matrices, animal tissues, and fluids.
Analyse and interpret mass spectrometry data including interrogation of HRMS data.
Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal stakeholders and commercial customers.
Stay abreast of the latest advancements in mass spectrometry and analytical chemistry.
BSc in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
Experience of developing and establishing mass spectrometry methods for the quantification and/or identification of chemicals.
Experience of interrogating and analysing HRMS data to identify and characterise unknown chemicals.
Knowledge of the GLP quality system.
Experience of working to regulatory guidelines on the safety testing of chemicals (e.g. Competitive salary £38k- £50k DOE
