Position Overview

CNOOC are seeking an experienced Engineering Modifications Team Lead to join the team on a permanent basis. Based full time in the Aberdeen office and reporting directly to the Manager of Engineering Delivery , this position holds responsibility for overseeing the management and execution of Engineering Delivery Projects and Brownfield contractor engineering modifications across three assets. Leadership will be provided to the two asset Delivery Leads to ensure successful project delivery. Additionally, the role may act as a delegate for the Manager of Engineering Delivery as needed.

A primary focus of this role is to ensure that Engineering Delivery Projects and Brownfield contractor engineering modifications are completed cost-effectively, efficiently, and consistently across all three assets. This involves maintaining alignment with overarching business priorities, such as HSE&A plans, Results 365, stabilisation plans, and CPEL KPIs, as well as asset-specific priorities.

Budgetary accountability for Engineering Delivery Projects and annual engineering modification budgets for each asset falls within the scope of this role. Furthermore, as the contract owner of the current Brownfield Modifications contract, strategic oversight of the contract's future direction and planned tendering activities is a key aspect of the role's responsibilities.

The Role:

As the accountable authority, this role oversees the comprehensive management and execution of Engineering Delivery Projects and Brownfield contractor engineering modifications across all three assets, adhering strictly to engineering change and CSGP procedures. It holds responsibility for managing the budgets associated with Engineering Delivery Projects, including Capex, Ex-Opex, and ABEX budgets, as well as the annual Opex budget for facilities engineering modifications on each asset.

Additionally, it serves as the contract owner for the current UK Brownfield contract and is responsible for devising the contract strategy moving forward, including a re-tendering exercise in 2024. Management of the interface with the Major Projects team, including project handover from the pre-FID team, falls within its purview.

This role provides management and leadership to the two asset Delivery Leads, overseeing various additional requirements such as overall engineering modification prioritisation and planning across all assets, regular status updates on engineering projects and modifications, and ensuring alignment with broader business strategy and priorities.

It also facilitates efficient technical and commercial closeout of implemented projects and modifications, including managing third-party closeout coordinators and DCC activities, and facilitates modifications within the UK eMOC tool and Engineering Modification Dashboards.

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in engineering design delivery, along with extensive experience in project development and execution, particularly within the realm of topsides offshore oil and gas platforms.

They should demonstrate a keen understanding of project economics and have previous experience in managing budgets effectively. Strong familiarity with EPC, Brownfield contractor and engineering design consultancy/contractor environments is essential, as is a proven track record with an Operator.

The candidate should thrive in high-pressure environments, consistently meeting deadlines and budgetary constraints. Effective prioritisation and workload planning skills are imperative, as is proficiency in both written and verbal communication to ensure effective team collaboration. Additionally, the candidate should have experience in managing engineering contractors and service providers.

At a minimum, candidates should hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline and be Chartered Professionals (CEng) with a recognised body such as the IMECHE.

You will already have extensive experience of broad engineering design or Brownfield projects, with prior management experience.
