6 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary:

  • Looking for someone for approximately 6 months, with possible extension after that. We need someone who has knowledge and understanding of SEND at a senior leadership level, preferably within a local authority.
  • They need to have an understanding of the DfE SEND & AP Change Programme and the DfE Delivering Better Value Framework. Experience of leading SEND improvement is also going to be key.
Key Duties/Accountabilities:
  • Ability to translate strategic priorities into clear outcome-focussed objectives for managers and provides energy and drive to achieve them.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships, partnerships, and networks to influence and promote effective working and a culture of high expectations.
  • Ability to lead a major change programme and to adapt national policy to a local context.
  • Ability to use data and information from a range of sources to drive service outcomes, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to use customer insight to determine and drive customer service outcomes and quality throughout service area.
  • Ability to manage resources efficiently with proven financial management skills.
Essential Experience Required:
  • Experience of leading on SEND in a school, college or local authority local authority, including the associated management of resources is essential.
  • Experience dealing with SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the Children and Families Act 2014 is essential.
  • Experience dealing with DfE SEND Change & Alternative Provision Change Programme and the DfE Delivering Better Value programme is essential.
Essential Qualification Required: · QTS qualification is highly desirable. Additional information to note:
  • Working hours: 37 hours per week.
  • The role is hybrid requiring candidates to be present in West Sussex 3 days per week, dependent on meetings etc.
