Customer-facing sales team representative working with Account Managers / Account Director focused on named accounts in the Western region which includes UK, France, and other countries. Perform technical tasks, including written proposals, network design and engineering and quotes. Network and applications engineering for CIENA products
Work with customer engineering teams to design Ciena optical network solutions based on state-of-the-art fiber optics technology and ultra-high-capacity technologies.
Analyze and evaluate the customer’s technical requirements, propose network architecture solutions, and respond to RFIs, RFPs and other customer requests
Provide product and technical expertise to support Sales efforts of transmission, switching and data products and SDN Management systems
Complete sophisticated network designs for customer using Ciena optical networking products.
Expertise in using network design and modelling tools
Interface with sales group and product management/marketing to develop and/or propose product enhancements to meet customer requirements
Maintain and grow technical expertise, product knowledge and sales skills through ongoing training
Act as the first-line support “Go-To” person for allocated sales opportunities

Strong technical knowledge of core optical networking is a must including DWDM, ROADM, 100G/200G/400G transmission, OTN technologies and DCI Solutions
Technical knowledge in data networking including understanding of IP/Ethernet and other data networking protocols
Beneficial is the technical knowledge of Software Defined Networking, network orchestration Network Function Virtualization.
General knowledge of computers and application programs (e.g. MS Office)
Flexible, able to handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
Fluent in English and another Language such as Spanish, Italian or Portuguese would be an advantage
The ability to demonstrate leadership in technical sales activities
Flexible individual that can handle multiple tasks with minimal supervision
5+ years of telecommunications industry experience, including optical networking experience
Prior Systems / Sales Engineering experience would be a plus.
Prior experience as a contributor on a sales account team
