Established accountancy practice based in Birmingham’s historic Jewellery Quarter requires an ambitious, relevantly qualified Accountant (junior/semi-senior level) to join their team. Predominantly being responsible for VAT Preparation and Preparation of Accounts to Trial Balance, as Accountant, you will also be required to manage daily accounting tasks, contributing to the overall efficiency and performance of the company. Offered as a permanent contract, the position of Accountant provides a market competitive salary (dependent upon experience) with a study package option available, attractive working environment and immediate start available. Successful candidate for the position of Accountant must be relevantly qualified (e.g. AAT, ACCA, CIMA), have previous practice experience (preferable), a can-do attitude and proficiency with Sage or similar (full training on company accounting system (CCH Central) will be provided). Main duties of Accountant:

  • VAT preparation
  • Preparation of accounts to Trial Balance
  • Post and process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
  • Perform reconciliations
  • Assist in the processing of balance sheets, income statements and other financial statements according to legal and company accounting and financial guidelines
  • Update financial data in databases to ensure that information will be accurate and immediately available when needed
  • Prepare and submit weekly/monthly reports as requested
  • Assist with other accounting projects
Skills and Attributes required for the role of Accountant:
  • Proven experience as a junior/semi-senior Accountant
  • Qualifications (e.g. ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
  • Excellent organising abilities
  • Great attention to detail
  • Good with numbers and figures and an analytical acumen
  • Good understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office and accounting software (e.g. Sage)
