As part of the neonatal workforce plan, we are expanding our Band 7 clinical team to strengthen the senior oversight, guidance & support for staff and families on every shift. Supported by close working relationships with the multi-disciplinary team, you will be a positive role model and advocate for the nursing team. You will support the team to provide compassionate, high standard care for all our babies and their families.


You will be Qualified in Specialty and a highly skilled neonatal practitioner who is passionate about professional development in everyday practice. Act as shift coordinator to effectively manage staff and patient flow to optimise care delivery, taking 24-hour accountability and responsibility for the neonatal unit.
Provide direction, effective and inspirational leadership to the nursing and multi-disciplinary team (including ancillary and clinical support staff) within the neonatal unit.
Act as an expert clinical practitioner supporting the team to provide excellent quality of care to patients and service users.
Act as a clinical and managerial role model within the unit team, clinical business unit and across the wider organisation.
Take responsibility for the provision of a supportive learning environment for all students on placement within the neonatal unit.
Practice clinically in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for a defined caseload. This will determine that the Sister / Charge nurse is unit based and practices clinically at least 80% of their working time.

A recognised NMC Teaching and Assessing Qualification or equivalent
