Position: HLTA Teaching Assistant
Hourly Rate: £12.16 per hour
45 depending on experience and qualifications
Plus: £1000 Welcome Bonus*
Hours: 40 hours per week, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm (flexibility required). You will be required to work until 5 pm one day a week for staff training and meetings. Term-time only. Caterham Education Centre
Simply Education is currently looking to recruit a HLTA Teaching Assistant for Caterham Education Centre (CEC) in Caterham, Surrey. CEC is a 30-place secondary/post-16 learning centre supporting young people aged 11 16 who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Aspergers Syndrome, Autism, and challenging behaviour.
CEC shares strong links with a nearby school, with a shared Principal and Head of School. However, each site operates independently with its own dedicated team, including an Assistant Head, Teachers, and Teaching Assistants. You are passionate about contributing to a broad and creative curriculum.
Build warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to help them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.
Adapt to the varying needs of the school, ensuring the smooth running of all tasks. On occasion, physical intervention may be required, and full training will be provided.
Promote the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, physical development, and spiritual well-being of pupils.
Responsibilities may vary, and you will be expected to contribute to the overall aims of the school as needed.
GCSE Maths and English (minimum Grade 4 or equivalent) essential .
Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification desirable but not essential .
Experience working in a special school environment highly desirable .
Team TEACH training desirable .
