Onboarding Specialist

Our Douglas-based CSP Client is seeking an Onboarding Specialist to join their busy Corporate Services team. Their team provides services relating to a wide variety of corporate matters, including banking and finance (commercial property, ship and aircraft finance), restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, capital markets, employment, property and data protection. Reporting to the Head of Risk and Compliance, the Onboarding Specialist will primarily be responsible for the onboarding of new clients, including completion of CDD and KYC checks. Duties will include:
- Successfully follow and ensure adherence to the relevant onboarding process, considering local requirements and regulatory classifications
- Work closely with the Group companies to facilitate onboarding requests
- Move the onboarding request through the workflow as quickly and efficiently as possible
- Effectively communicate the status of onboarding to internal stakeholders
- Manage individual book of work (new and existing account queue) ensuring escalation where relevant
- Ensure all relevant activities are completed in respect of the collation of all onboarding due diligence documentation for prospective and existing clients
- Work closely with the legal team and CSP team regarding ongoing prioritisation of prospective client pipeline and upcoming existing client reviews
- Undertake customer risk assessments, as required
- Review of CDD and EDD to ensure in line with AML Code requirements
- Perform PEP and sanction screening and open-source media screening on request
- Participate in weekly risk and compliance department meetings reporting all outstanding CDD
- Obtain information and supporting documentation to complete KYC due diligence via direct client contact
- Cross-reference and confirm client documentation, using both internal and external sources
- Understand and oversee the identification of high-risk applications (including PEP's and sanction matches)
- Identify trends and unusual activity, and reporting where appropriate
- Perform due diligence on client documentation using internal and external sources (such as WorldCheck)
- Knowledge of, and familiarity with, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to trust and corporate services businesses in Isle of Man
- Experienced in reviewing identification documents, managing, and/or performing reviews and risk assessments
- Ability to analyse, evaluate and mitigate the financial crime risks associated with onboarding
- Can demonstrate experience of undertaking due diligence and client onboarding, as well as a strong understanding of AML regulations and compliance guidelines
- Experience within the offshore finance Industry, ideally in a trust and corporate services business
- Has corporate governance experience and an understanding and experience of risk mitigation
- Knowledge of IOM AML Code requirements and undertaking customer risk assessments
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and IT systems generally
