Job Role and Responsibilities

This role sits within the Department’s professional services team that focuses on administrative support for the staffing needs of the department. The post holder will assist in the provision comprehensive and effective HR and Staffing Service to all members of staff within the department. This will include supporting the Operations Manager in liaison with the research & finance team for grant supported staff. The role holder is expected to manage their duties effectively and without close supervision.
The post holder will also participate in the rota to cover reception during lunches and routine absences of the permanent receptionist.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Experience, and Knowledge

  • Educated to A level or equivalent professional experience
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service, including problem resolution
  • Experience working as part of a team, with the ability to support other team members
  • Prior HR & Payroll experience with knowledge of HR and recruitment databases

Skills and Abilities

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, fostering successful relationships and maintaining a positive work environment
  • Ability to acquire and communicate accurate information on HR policy
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills, prioritizing workload effectively to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, and web-based applications
