The Trade Finance Division (TFD) sits within UKEF's Business Group and is responsible for delivering short-term business products including the Bond Support Scheme, Export Working Capital Scheme, General Export Facility, Export Insurance Policy, and Bond Insurance Policy. We are looking for a Business Manager to join our growing Short-Term Business Underwriting Team (STBU). This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of UKEF's trade finance operations, supporting UK exporters and financial institutions. In this role, you will take ownership of applications from banks, exporters, and brokers for UKEF guarantees and trade credit insurance, managing cases from start to finish and liaising with internal and external stakeholders throughout the process. You will assist with structuring and negotiating facilities, drafting credit analyses, and presenting recommendations to sanctioning managers and the UKEF Credit Committee. Building strong relationships with applicants, banks, brokers, and Export Finance Managers is key, and you will occasionally meet clients to support their needs. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and leading on enquiries and applications, ensuring compliance checks such as Financial Crime screening, and preparing detailed credit submission papers for risk approval. You will manage documentation and communications across UKEF systems, collaborate with internal teams and other government departments, and continuously develop your knowledge of UKEF's products and policies. The role also involves supporting learning and development within the team, participating in marketing activities, explaining UKEF's products clearly to stakeholders, and contributing to policy development and process improvements. From time to time, you may support Financial Institution onboarding and take on line management responsibilities. We are looking for someone with strong analytical and underwriting skills, excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, and ideally, knowledge of trade finance and credit insurance products.
