Job Description

The London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) is seeking enthusiastic and detail-oriented interns to join our team for a 6-week paid internship program in the summer of 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the global bullion market. 

Location: Based in the City of London with occasional home-working possible.

Ideal candidates will be working towards or have achieved a Bachelor’s degree and will have:

  • An interest in learning more about the precious metals industry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to clearly articulate information to various audiences.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • A strong work ethic, and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Ability to network with the ability to make a positive impression.
  • Self-drive and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Previous work experience in an office environment (desirable).

We have opportunities for an intern in one of the following departments:

Marcomms. 6 weeks from the week commencing 24 June 2024. Our Marcomms internship will give you access to all aspects of the Marketing, Communications and Events team. You will learn to edit and create website content, working with the Marketing Assistant to post daily social updates. In this role, you'll not only gain an in-depth understanding of marketing communications but also develop invaluable skills in content creation and data analysis. Plus, you'll be working in a vibrant, fast-paced environment that values collaboration and innovation.

Responsible Sourcing. 6 weeks from the week commencing 29 July 2024. Responsible sourcing is a critical aspect of supply chain management, focusing on the ethical, social, environmental, and economic impacts of procuring goods and services. LBMA’s Responsible Sourcing Programme verifies the legitimacy of gold and silver supply chains, ensuring sourcing meets international ethical standards. As a Responsible Sourcing Intern you will have an opportunity to analyse data and write up findings to be incorporated into LBMA publications and/or the Responsible Sourcing and Sustainability annual report. A Responsible Sourcing internship offers a unique opportunity to understand the relationship between business, ethical, social, and environmental considerations.

Compliance. 6 weeks during July and August 2024. Do you want to experience first hand how global finance operates and how to protect its integrity? Then a Compliance Internship is the right option for you. You will become familiar with the Global Precious Metals Code and Responsible Gold Guidance Rules, as well as the Anti Money Laundering and Anti-Terrorist Financing environment. If you're excited about making a difference and keen to dive into the fascinating world of compliance, this internship will provide you with valuable skills, industry knowledge, and a unique experience that sets you apart in the financial industry.

Good Delivery List. 6 weeks during July and August 2024. Our Good Delivery List (GDL) is a recognised standard of quality and assurance in the gold and silver bullion market. In the Loco London Market, precious metals are traded directly between two parties, and this system depends on all the bars having exactly the same specification. Only gold and silver bars that meet our Good Delivery standards are acceptable in the settlement of a Loco London contract where the bullion traded is physically held in London. Our GDL internship provides a unique opportunity for you to learn more about our Good Delivery refiners and support our processes, including precious metal shipments and quality checking.
