This role would suit an innovative clinical psychologist from Older People's or Adult Mental Health, Neuropsychology or Physical Health services who has the experience and skill to provide senior leadership and oversight of psychological therapies in our Bexley OPMH Services (including a CMHT, Memory Service and Care Home Team). There is a broad range of clinical work from complex individual and group therapy, couple and family work and consultation, to neuropsychology and rehabilitation. The post-holder also links into Acute & Crisis services, including our Mental Health Liaison team, wards and home treatment team.
You will play a crucial role in helping to shape the future of OPMH psychological therapy services, demonstrating leadership in clinical practice, service development, supervision, training, and management. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the quality and reach of our services, ensuring that we provide the best possible evidence-based care to our service users, their families and support networks. There are excellent working relationships within the teams and with senior managers within OPMH services and the Community Mental Health Directorate.
Main duties of the jobPsychological Therapies are an established, highly valued specialty within OPMH services. This role is well supported by a team of Psychological therapists, including clinical psychologists, CBT, systemic and art therapists, at bands 8b to 4. We provide a range of therapies, including CBT, systemic, psychodynamic, art therapy, CAT, EMDR, SCM, DBT informed interventions, and third wave CBT approaches including Mindfulness and ACT. Psychological Therapy services are very well respected within the wider Oxleas Trust and this is reflected in our Director of Therapies (Neil Springham, Art Psychotherapist) being a full member of the Board of the Trust alongside the Medical Director and Director of Nursing.
Psychological Therapies also have a key role to play in taking forward the Mental Health Transformation agenda and this post will contribute to that programme of development. Older People's services also comprise a dedicated and collaborative workforce. Overall, Oxleas is a warm and supportive place to work.

Essential
- Doctoral qualification in clinical psychology or equivalent
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Additional qualification in therapy

- Substantial experience as a qualified clinical psychologist
- Teaching/training/supervision
- Experience of carrying out post-qualification research, audit, or service evaluation projects.
- Experience of undertaking leadership roles.
- Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course and presenting with the full range of clinical severity and complexity across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care, in-patient and residential care settings.
- Understanding and experience of working in multicultural contexts
- Experience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified psychological therapists.
- Experience in working with People with Dementia
- Experience of proposing and implementing service development projects that impact beyond own service area.

- Doctoral level knowledge of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, and two or more distinct psychological therapies.
- A high-level ability to communicate effectively at both a written and oral level
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groups
- Formal training in supervision of other psychologists and psychological therapists.
- Use of complex methods of specialist psychological assessment, intervention and management.

- Highly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies, including in specific complex and difficult to treat groups (e.g. severely challenging behaviours etc.)
