Senior/Principal Mechanical Engineer (CRE) - London
To provide Mechanical and Public Health engineering support on the HS2 Old Oak Common project through design to completion. This will involve all stages from design, installation, testing and commissioning. Support to Mechanical and Public Health construction teams to ensure successful delivery from a HSE, programme, quality and compliance perspectives.

As the Senior/Principal Mechanical/Public Health Engineer you will be responsible for leading VVB’s and the JV known as Anthro (VVB & Egis) Mechanical/Public Health function.

You will lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation and commissioning of either the Mechanical or Public Health scope of works at HS2 Old Oak Common Station. This incorporates parts of the station which work to HS2, Network Rail (NR), or both technical standards. The role is working in the Rail sector, experience in Rail or related infrastructure sectors would be ideal.

This is a project based in Acton for at least 3-5 days per week initially.

This role will be working for VVB Engineering, a joint venture partner of Egis as part of the Anthro JV managing the MEP program of works at Old Oak Common.

Lead a small Engineering team to deliver the design, installation and commissioning of either the Mechanical or Public Health scope of works at HS2 Old Oak Common Station. This incorporates parts of the station which work to HS2, Network Rail (NR), or both technical standards.
Undertaking Mechanical and Public Health design review in line with current project applicable HS2, NR, BS, EN and ISO standards and to ensure buildability and constructability. Manage a 3rd party design consultant in delivering the design deliverables required for the project.
Liaise with the main Contractor Designers to review comments and agree an efficient way forward with resolving design comments.
Ensure design risk assessment is compliant with installation parameters.
Provide engineered solutions to key project problems to satisfy clients expectations, project restrictions and budget considerations.
as appropriate inline VVB/Anthro and project requirements. Direct liaison with CAD/BIM team to ensure correct drawing modelling to BIM or other standards. Attend, and participate as the Mechanical lead, interdisciplinary design reviews and checks (IDR/IDC).
Support, and where required, carry out the Commissioning of Mechanical Systems.
Carry out site surveys/visits for project purposes not limited to the purpose of identifying scope, improvements to systems, dilapidation and design requirements.
Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability, works methodology and solve key installation issues/constructability.
Working with the commercial department to track technical or design change and variances.
Working with the planning department to plan design, installation and T&C works. Provision of accurate assessment on forecast works to complete and provide suitable readjustments to ensure project programme is maintained.
Ensure design and works comply with VVB/Anthro and client quality management systems

Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering
• Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer
• Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE or other recognised Engineering Council Institutions
• SMSTS, SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safety
• CSCS Card – AQP or PQP min

Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Engineering Council Registration as Chartered Engineer
• Project management qualification, APM, PRINCE 2 or equivalent
• Formal HSE training, NEBOSH Construction Certificate
• DSEAR & ATEX formal training

Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards, BIM and design modelling standards and all other associated standards and legislation.
Advanced MS Office skills including Excel
Utilisation of MS Project or P6
Fire rated ductwork
Large HVAC systems inc heatpumps
Public Health (Potable water, DHW, gravity and pumped drainage, rain water collection etc)
Revit (or equivalent BIM product)
Utilisation of Mechanical design Packages (HEVACOMP, IES etc)
Utilisation of pipe stress analysis software (AUTOPipe or CASEAR II)
Design using AutoCAD, Microstation or Revit Awareness of DSEAR/ATEX requirements and obligations as designer and installer.
