Job Summary

Cedar is seeking a highly skilled Senior Public Health Engineer to join our team on a prestigious rail programme. As a key member of our engineering team, you will provide Mechanical and Public Health engineering support from design to completion in 2033.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead a small engineering team to deliver the design, installation, and commissioning of Mechanical and Public Health scope of works.
  2. Undertake design reviews to ensure compliance with current project standards, including HS2, NR, BS, EN, and ISO.
  3. Manage third-party design consultants to deliver design deliverables.
  4. Liaise with contractors and designers to resolve design comments and ensure efficient project progress.
  5. Ensure design risk assessments are compliant with installation parameters.
  6. Participate in HazID, HazOP, and HazCON meetings.
  7. Provide engineered solutions to key project problems.
  8. Manage design registers, meeting minutes, and drawing registers.
  9. Direct liaison with CAD/BIM teams to ensure correct drawing modeling.
  10. Attend interdisciplinary design reviews and checks.
  11. Develop scope documents for tenders and procurement processes.
  12. Support commissioning of Mechanical Systems.
  13. Direct liaison with installation teams to ensure design suitability and solve key installation issues.
  14. Work with commercial teams to track technical or design changes.
  15. Work with planning departments to plan design, installation, and testing works.
  16. Manage subcontractor works and assist commercial departments in valuation and contract support.
  17. Ensure design and works comply with client quality management systems.
  18. Stay up-to-date with Mechanical, construction, and relevant legislation, law, standards, and best practices.
  19. Train and mentor the Mechanical engineering/Mechanical design team.
Requirements
  1. Knowledge of relevant Mechanical and Public Health installations legislation and standards.
  2. Knowledge of design processes and associated compliance.
  3. Advanced MS Office skills, including Excel.
  4. Utilization of MS Project or P6.
  5. Working knowledge of large HVAC systems, fire-rated duct work, staircase pressurization systems, smoke clearance, potable water, DHW, gravity/pumped drainage, and rainwater collection.
  6. 7 years' experience in a similar Mechanical or Public Health Engineering position.
  7. Previous experience in the infrastructure/construction environment.
  8. Experience with offsite construction, modularization, pre-fabrication, and DfMA.
Qualifications
  1. Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  2. Engineering Council Registration as Incorporated Engineer.
  3. Registered member of IMechE, IET, CIBSE, or recognized Engineering Council Institutions.
  4. SMSTS, SSSTS, or IOSH Managing Safety.
  5. CSCS Card - AQP or PQP minimum.
  6. Full UK driver's license.
